HAM & CHEESE QUICHE RECIPE

WHY I ♥ IT

It's a healthy and easy alternative to the French quiche Lorraine (which uses bacon dices and cream).  In this recipe, I will show you how to make a very tasty quiche, with less fats and plus, it's easier to digest.

ALL SET? OK, NOW, THE STEPS !


STEP 1 : PREPARE THE DOUGH

  1. Make sure to wash and dry your hands first ! 
  2. In a large bowl, pour the flour and the sugar, then mix them together.
  3. Cut the butter into small pieces and add them to the mixture.
  4. Mix the butter and the flour with your fingers, lightly knead the dough.
  5. Slowly incorporate the water.
  6. You should be able to form a ball with the dough, once you achieve that, cover it up and keep it refrigerated for at least 20 minutes. You should have something that looks like this:

/ ! \ Don't knead too much, or the dough will gain more elasticity, which will affect the texture. 

STEP 2 : QUICHE 

  1. Preheat oven at 180°C (356 °F).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and add the milk. 
  3. Add a pinch of salt, pepper and cumin. 
  4. Roll the dough and set it on a buttered mould. You can either butter the mould or put some parchment paper so that the dough doesn't stick to the mould. 
  5. With a fork, prick the dough then add the sliced ham. 
  6. Cover with the grated cheese.
  7. Bake at 180°C (356 °F) for 45 minutes
  8. Serve warm and enjoy !
